Benidorm has held today a new minute of silence in rejection of sexist violence and as a sign of mourning for the last mortal victim. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Perez, and the mayor of Equality, Paquita Ripoll, have led the concentration at the gates of the City Council, which have also been present several councilors of the corporation, municipal workers and residents of the city.

On this occasion, the victim was a minor of 17 years, allegedly murdered by her partner, aged 19, in the Tarragona town of Reus. According to sources of the investigation, the young woman was decapitated by her boyfriend who, later, also died after throwing himself into the void from a fifth floor.

According to the official data of the Ministry of Equality, there are already six women who have died as a consequence of sexist aggressions so far in 2019. The Department of Equality reminds women that they may be facing a case of abuse, as well as all citizens , who can go to the municipal services or use the toll-free number 016 against gender violence. The call is not reflected in the telephone bill, but it is advisable to delete it from the list of calls from mobile phones.
