The Assembly Hall in the City Council hosts the premiere of the adaptation of the work by the Valencian composer Martín y Soler, an icon of the 18th century

Martini Quartet opens the sixth edition of Great Recitals

29 April 2021
El Quartet Martini obri la sisena edició dels Grans Recitals...

The sixth edition of Great Recitals Cycle starts tomorrow night in Benidorm City Hall, at 8:00 p.m., with a concert by the Martini Quartet that will perform up to seventeen pieces, in absolute premiere, of an opera, of the drama genre humorous, with a score by the Valencian musician Vicente Martín y Soler, premiered in November 1786 at the Burgtheater in Vienna and which was a resounding success to the point that a theme from the work was picked up and mentioned by Mozart in 'Don Giovanni' (1787 ).

Tomorrow's performance is based on an adaptation by the bohemian composer Georg Druschetzky, reconstructed by Gonzalo Devesa Valera from Benidorms, author of the doctoral thesis on the Valencian musician and his humorous opera, who currently holds the Oboe Chair of the Royal Conservatory of Music from Granada and is an international concert player, having been an instrumentalist with 'The World Orchestra' and collaborator with the 'European Union Youth Wind Orchestra' or the Joven Orquesta de Holanda, among others.

Tomorrow twelve numbers of the first act and a selection of five numbers of the second act of the opera ‘Una cosa rara, ossia beauty ed onestà’ will be performed with the most famous melodies for the European public of the last decades of the 18th century.

The Martini Quartet is made up of Gonzalo Devesa Valera (oboe), Fernando Pascual León (violin), Jorge David Fanjul Campos (cello) and the Brazilian Estevan de Almeida Reis (viola). All four are virtuous performers with a long professional career. Devesa, who started at the Benidorm Musical Union, has been, among others, Oboe soloist at the Cairo Symphony and at the Shen Yun Symphony in New York; Fernando León shares a chair with Devesa at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music of Granada; Fanjul is a professor at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Castellón and Almeida is a soloist of the Montpellier Opera Orchestra, France). All four are regular international concert performers.

The cycle of Great Recitals for this year of 2021, announced by councilor Jaime Jesús Pérez, will continue in May, on Friday 28, with a recital by the students of the last year of the ‘José Pérez Barceló’ Municipal Professional Conservatory of Music. In the cycle, two more appointments are scheduled in October, on days 1 and 22, with the Alicante Symphony Orchestra and the concert by the piano teacher from the Benidormense conservatory Aroa Blanco.

The Department of Culture recalls that for this recital the security measures and anti-Covid protocols are in force that require respecting capacity and safety distance, being mandatory the use of a mask and hand disinfection when entering the room, as well as when entering and exiting the services. The indications of signage, informative posters and of the room staff must be respected.
