Linaje de Castilla y La Taberna Andaluza se alzan con los premios del público y del jurado del XIV Concurso de Tapas y Pinchos

The establishments La Taberna Andaluza and Linaje de Castilla have won the main prizes in the XIV Benidorm Gastronomic Tapas and Pinchos Contest, which took place from June 14 to 23. The ruling was announced today at an event held at El Torrejó municipal centre, which was attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez, members of the municipal corporation, as well as the president of Abreca, Javier del Castillo, members of the entity. and participating restaurants.

In this Contest, the third activity of Benidorm Gastronomic 2024, 17 establishments have participated and have sold and served more than 5,000 tapas and pinchos, setting a new record.

As for the awards, the technical jury made up of professionals linked to the world of restaurants and gastronomy, considered that the best proposal was 'El gofre encantadao' by El Línea de Castilla restaurant. The second prize went to 'De la lonja' by A bordo gastrolounge, and the third to La tabernita del Sur for its 'Basque-Andalusian frying of eels and anchovies in a little cartridge like in the bars of the south'.

The diners who have tried the tapas and pinchos in the competition for ten days have decided with their votes that the best proposal has been that of La Taberna Andaluza with its 'Taste your secret'. The second prize was received by Ellínea de Castilla and the third was for the pincho 'El mordisquito' by Dni Ibéricos.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has pointed out that 2024 has been “a new record-breaking edition” of the Contest, within a “fully consolidated” Gastronomic Benidorm and that it gives a good example of the “work” carried out by restaurateurs.

That work together with “the human staff” of “restaurants, hospitality and leisure” in Benidorm “are the best letter of introduction.”
Toni Pérez has stressed that "the city, the destination, is in a moment of very powerful activity and Benidorm Gastronomic has to do with it", since "there are many people who already come to the city just to enjoy the gastronomy ”. Visit Benidorm indicators show that gastronomy is “the second most talked about Benidorm product on social networks, surpassed only by the sun and the beaches.”

Likewise, he has emphasized that this 14th edition has been “the most inclusive” thanks to the incorporation in the brochure of the Navilens system code, for guidance of people with visual problems. The mayor has announced that this Navilens code “comes and stays” in this Gastronomic Benidorm, thus promoting “accessibility and inclusion, which are in the DNA of our destination.”

For his part, and as the mayor has also done, the president of Abreca has congratulated the winning establishments, thanked everyone for their participation and highlighted the sales volume of the tapas and pinchos in the competition. Del Castillo has assured that "we are going to continue working and projecting our Gastronomic Benidorm, which is more recognized nationally every year."

During the event, a raffle was held, among the people who throughout the Contest voted for their favourite creations, for two dinners for two people to choose from at the participating establishments. Abreca will contact the two winners to inform them of their prize.

The next event of Benidorm Gastronomic 2023 will be the III Cocktail Competition, which will take place from September 13 to 22.
