The K9 Unit of the Local Police visits all schools in Benidorm starting today

La Unidad K9 de la Policía Local visita a partir de hoy todos los colegios de Benidorm

After touring the Municipal Children's Schools (EIM) of Benidorm, and the students of the first cycle of Early Childhood Education, the K9 (Canine) Unit of Benidorm Local Police has started today the second phase of the project with Education students Primary, from six years old

The councillors of Education and Public Service, Maite Moreno and Jesús Carrobles, have accompanied the officers of this peculiar 'canine patrol' on their visit to the CEIP Leonor Canalejas, the first of the second phase of the informative campaign that is scheduled to end next month of March, after visiting the 14 schools in the city.

Hanko and Kili, a male and a female, members of the K9 Unit, are the protagonists. Both have amazed students and teachers with their expertise, obedience and knowledge of how to behave, which would not be possible without the constant work of the agents and, at the same time, trainers, with whom they share most of the time providing their services to the city.

The objective of this initiative, Moreno recalled, is that the students “can learn about how dogs communicate with each other and with humans” so that they learn “to interpret the language” of dogs and thus improve “the relationships between children and animals.”

For his part, Jesús Carrobles has specified that the activities last "around 45 minutes". In each session "a couple of classrooms can participate, approximately 50 minors" and "only" the centre has to put the provision of the K9 Unit “a room with a projector, where the talk can be held and the dogs can show their skills.”
