The JGL tenders the second phase of pedestrianization of Tomás Ortuño for about 730,000 euros

15 September 2017
La JGL licita la segunda fase de peatonalización de Tomás Ortuño por cerca de 730.000 euros

The government awards the works to finish rehabilitating the old Pensioner's Home

The Local Government Board of Benidorm (JGL) has approved to contest the works of the second phase of pedestrianization of Tomás Ortuño Street for an amount of 728,827.72 euros. This new phase is part of the stretch between La Garita and Limones streets, and its bidding comes after the Urban Scene Advisory Council and the Mobility Council have given viability to the project drafted by the municipal technicians.

Initially, the idea was that pedestrianization reached Apolo XI Street following the model, design and qualities of the first stretch, completed in early 2017. However, the municipal technicians proposed to prolong the pedestrianization to the crossing with Limones and including in that performance leaving San Antonio Street without traffic.

The prolongation of the pedestrianization of Tomás Ortuño will involve the redesign of traffic in the area to avoid congestion. The changes will affect, mainly, Maravall and Marqués de Comillas street, that will invest their sense of circulation. The circulation will also change in Roldán and Puig Campana streets.

Besides in terms of works, the JGL has awarded the second phase of rehabilitation of the former Pensioner's Home, which will serve to finish off the structure of the main building and also the small built construction. The performance is valued at just over 70,000 euros.

The JGL has also awarded the works of maintenance, conservation and renovation of the urban scene, for a sum of 200,000 euros; and retail hardware supply contract.
