Institutional visit of the naval commander of Alicante Benidorm City Council
Benidorm has a close connection with the Navy and, in particular, with the Submarine Force
The Naval Commander of Alicante, Rafael Torrecillas del Prado, paid an institutional visit this morning to Benidorm City Council, where he was received by the city's mayor, Toni Pérez.
Torrecillas del Prado, a naval captain, attended the meeting with the mayor, accompanied by Lieutenant Jorge Puig.
The meeting addressed collaboration between the two institutions. It's worth noting that Benidorm hosts the Maritime Conference, an annual series of educational lectures focused on naval history; and that the city has a close connection with the Navy, and especially with the Submarine Force, which has a monument in the Plaça de la Senyoria.
Rafael Torrecillas del Prado has an extensive service record. He has commanded the 1st Mine Countermeasures Squadron (MCM) and the patrol boats “Arnomendi” and “Ízaro.” Among his postings, he has served as Chief of Staff of the Spanish Operational Headquarters (ES OHQ), Head of the Coordination and Control Section of the Naval Education Directorate (DIENA), Head of the Logistics Section of the Navy Staff (EMA), Head of the Control and Ship Service of the frigate “Méndez Núñez,” and Orders Officer of the 41st Escort Squadron. Since July 2025, he has held the position of Naval Commander of Alicante.
