The ‘Castellum’ of La Cala launches new polychromatic night lighting
Historical Heritage organizes guided tours to get to know the Roman Benidorm
The Department of Historical Heritage directed by Ana Pellicer has launched a program of guided visits to Tossal de La Cala for individuals and groups who will be able to learn, from the hand of expert guides, what Benidorm of the 1st century BC was like, that today we can discover thanks to the recent musealisation of the Roman ‘Castellum’ and the archaeological actions carried out by the City Council in collaboration with the University of Alicante.
The ‘Castellum’ opened its doors at the end of August. It can already be visited by neighbors and tourists in a particular way. Now, with this new Historical Heritage service, it is even more open to society with group visits. Coinciding with the start of this activity, the Tossal also launches new polychromatic lighting that can change its hue depending on the needs and that can be seen from miles away.
The City Council is sending invitations to local associations so that social groups can enjoy the new guided tours. The e-mail address patrimonihistoric@benidorm.org has also been enabled through which any entity can contact the council to schedule their visit to the museum site.
The Roman ‘Castellum’ of Tossal de La Cala is the only late-republican fortress excavated ‘in extension’. After its musealization and integration into the urban environment, it is already a historical reference and one more tourist attraction in Benidorm. The opening hours of the facility are, from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., uninterruptedly; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. However, the guided tours will be scheduled in the afternoons: on weekdays, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm; Saturdays, also from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
