Alicante Provincial Council has awarded the City Council a subsidy of about 70,000 euros for this work within the project: ‘Plan + Deporte 2021’

‘Guillermo Amor’ Sports City will have this year a renovated sports court

17 August 2021
La Ciudad Deportiva ‘Guillermo Amor’ estrenará este año pista polideportiva renovada

"Guillermo Amor" Sports City will open a renovated sports track before the end of the year, specifically the one located in the upper part of the complex, next to the small pool and tennis courts. This has been reported today by the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, who has reported that " Alicante Provincial Council has awarded the City Council the subsidy that we request for this action within the call for aid 'Plan + Deporte 2021' and whose resolution has been published today in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) ”.

This subsidy amounts to 69,719.09 euros, corresponding to 77% of the cost of the work, assuming the City Council the remaining 20,771.14 euros until reaching the 90,490.23 euros in which the work is valued ".

Cebreros explained that "the track is very deteriorated and practically in disuse, hence a total renovation has been proposed with which to recover its use and at the same time improve the accesses and connections of the Sports City itself."

Thus, and as detailed, this comprehensive renovation "involves changing the surface of the track and rotating its orientation 90º, which will make it possible to create a new access road for emergency vehicles to the upper part of the sports complex; as well as giving the track a lateral sunlight that favors its use at any time of the day ”. In addition, the lighting columns will also be renewed "to implement the 'led' system to improve lighting and obtain energy and economic savings".

As Cebreros has advanced, this performance "will be completed before the end of the year." The councillor has indicated that this sports track "was the only one that remained to be improved in the Sports City, where during the last six years constant investments have been made to update practically all the infrastructures sports ”.

Other improvement actions in the Sports City

Cebreros has stressed that "the renovation of this sports track is not the only work that will be carried out in the coming months in the Sports City, since we are also going to perform in one of the main facilities of the complex, 'Raúl Table ', which is going to be expanded and in which accessibility is going to be improved ”.

The councillor recalled that "Alicante Provincial Council, this time within the 'Plan + Cerca 2020', has awarded the City Council a subsidy of just over 294,000 euros for this project, with which it is expected to enlarge the pavilion to the north , replace the roof and create new stands, which would multiply the capacity of the pavilion ”; fully and adapted accessible public toilets, two changing rooms for athletes and another two for refrees, and warehouses. The City Council will contribute the remaining 275,059.36 euros.
