Benidorm finalizes the agrrement about university transport to the UA campus in Sant Vicent del Raspeig
Students interested in using this service have to make contact with the City Council before August 27
Benidorm City Council is finalizing the university transport service to Sant Vicent del Raspeig campus of the University of Alicante (UA) for the 2021/2022 academic year, as confirmed today by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, who recalled that " our commitment is to guarantee this service, which until the middle of last year was provided by ABEU (Benidorm Association of University Students), and for this we have been working since June on different lines of action to determine the most suitable formula among the alternatives that are being considered ”.
Moreno has stressed that "while waiting for the UA to specify the presence or not of the 2021-2022 academic year, we are already specifying the real transport needs that exist to determine how this service is going to be provided." To do this, two weeks ago the students registered in Benidorm and interested in the transport service to Sant Vicente del Raspeig campus were asked to notify the City Council, in order to meet those needs. "To date, 135 students have been interested in this service, mostly in the morning," she has specified.
The councilor has informed that "until next August 27 we will continue receiving requests for transport, which students must communicate by email to educacio@benidorm.org indicating name and surname, studies, turn (morning or evening), phone number, and the stop among the eight initially proposed by the City Council ”.
The proposed stops are located at: Severo Ochoa avenue, next to Lope de Vega school; Ametlla del Mar in front of Mercaloix; Mediterráneo Avenue next to the Mediterráneo 17 commercial establishment; Alfonso Puchades Avenue next to the Nuevo Nevada cafeteria and next to Economy supermarket; Jaime I Avenue next to Burger King; Armada Española Avenue at the height of Poseidón Playa hotel; and Villajoyosa avenue next to Café Fresno.
For any questions, interested persons can contact the Department of Education on the phone 966815471.
Historically, and until mid-March, the university transport service has been provided by ABEU, and the City Council paid part of the cost of this service for the students registered in Benidorm. However, at the beginning of March this year, ABEU decided to cancel this service. From that moment until the end of this course, the City Council made the pertinent steps so that Benidorm students were attended by La Vila Association of University Students (Assoveu), which managed the transport to the UA of Benidorm students.
