It is estimated that it will serve to clean the roads for a week
The City Council uses the water from the Palau pool to wash down the streets
Benidorm City Council is going to reuse the water from the Palau d'Esports l'Illa pool to wash down the streets, as reported today by the Councilor for Water Cycle and Road Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate, who recalled that "every year when the pool is emptied to carry out maintenance work, we carry out the same operation, thus guaranteeing the maximum use of this water."
Thus, since Monday, personnel from the road cleaning concessionaire company, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC), has been emptying the swimming pool glasses and filling the tanks that will later be used to wash the streets.
De Zárate has indicated that " there are more than 400,000 liters of water, with which the streets can be flushed for about a week."
The councillor has stressed that "it is important that the City Council be the first to set an example in terms of water reuse, in order to make public awareness more effective", and has clarified that "the use of purified water for flushing streets is a common practice in our day to day, since we have reused water pipes in practically all the neighborhoods of Benidorm and we use them daily to clean the public road ”.
Likewise, it has advanced that "in mid-September or October, and as has been done in previous years, we are going to launch a campaign so that the communities of owners who are going to empty their swimming pools after the summer communicate it to the City Council in order to to be able to capture that water and reuse it also for flushing ”.
