The mayor emphasizes that good economic management has allowed to exceed the best forecasts of the Adjustment Plan.
The local government of Benidorm has settled in three years 44,762,780 euros of debt of the Plan of Payment to Suppliers, which at the end of this year will be set at 16,862,700 euros, according to the figures transferred this morning by the mayor, Toni Pérez. In percentage terms, the debt reduction stood at 72.63%, "far exceeding the best forecast of the Adjustment Plan" following the Royal Decrees of 2012 and 2013 to address the debt incurred by the City Council with suppliers.
Pérez explained that this repayment of the debt is the result of "good economic management by the government team and all municipal areas," and stressed that it has been achieved without sacrificing investments and without neglecting the needs of the city. In this sense, it has affected that since 2015 "Benidorm returns to invest in Benidorm" and "obtains resources" supramunicipal to develop projects. "By conjugating the verb 'ask' and working hard -he assured- we get works, concessions, funding and provincial, regional, national and European aid, maintain and increase services, serve people and wipe debts".
According to the figures transferred by the mayor, on January 1, 2015 the debt of the Supplier Payment Plan contracted by the City of Benidorm was 61,625,480 euros, and that the forecast of the Adjustment Plan was to close 2018 with 34,664,330 euros However, "in these three years we have amortized a lot more debt than was anticipated", so today the City owes the banks 16,862,700 euros of the Supplier Payment Plan, about 18 million euros less than the best forecast
The mayor congratulated the Councilor for Finance, Lourdes Caselles, for the management of these magnificent debt reduction figures, which renews the objective of the local government to cancel the debt derived from the Supplier Payment Plan in June of 2020; that is, three and a half years earlier than expected.
