‘Galaxia Hung’ extends its stay in Benidorm until mid-September
‘Galaxia Hung’, the colorful sculpture exhibition by Taiwanese artist Hung-Yi, will spend the summer in Benidorm. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, has announced today that “the exhibition extends its stay in our city until mid-September, thus enabling residents to enjoy this exhibition of first level; and to the tourists who visit us this summer, discover it ”.
Furthermore, “taking advantage of this 'extra' exhibition period, and in coordination with the artist himself and the exhibition curator, Eduardo Alcalde, one of the most iconic and photographed sculptures from 'Hung Galaxy' will arrive in Poniente area, approaching thus to one of the most touristic points of the city during the high season ”. In this way, it is expected that in the coming days the pair of swans that currently presides over Plaza de SSMM Reyes de España will move to Avenida Armada Española, at an intermediate point on Paseo de Poniente. "We place in this way what is probably the most portrayed sculpture in the exhibition practically on the beach, thus enabling a unique image: the one that will link the art and mastery of Hung Yi to our island", they added.
The mayor has underlined that “for the city of Benidorm it is a great pride that Hung Yi has wanted to accompany us for two more months, thus confirming what the artist himself publicly communicated a few weeks ago: his satisfaction at exhibiting in a tourist destination such as the ours and also do it in a difficult time like the one that has been experienced worldwide since the outbreak of the pandemic ”.
“We thank Hung Yi for his generosity and consideration towards our city”, added Toni Pérez, and that “allows us to continue offering, through his work, more happiness and color to all those who visit us during the season. summer". "Benidorm has always been happiness and the 12 'Galaxia Hung' sculptures located at the foot of the street, interspersed with our urban fabric, reinforce that experience," he pointed out.
"Hung Galaxy" exhibition arrived in Benidorm on April 16. Initially, the show was scheduled to be in the city until July 12, a date that is now being extended by two more months. Since his arrival, the City Council has promoted a popular photography contest and a drawing contest among the little ones. The six best snapshots from the photography contest complement the Taiwanese artist's sculpture exhibition and are on display at l’Espai d’Art Urbà El Pont.
