The Fogueres Federation chooses Benidorm for the coexistence of the candidates for the junior Bellea del Foc
Federació de Fogueres (Federation of Bonfires) has chosen Benidorm to host this year's gathering for the candidates for the title of Bellea del Foc Infantil (Children's Queen) of Alicante for 2026. This event will bring together all the girls vying for the title to share experiences with their peers and with the jury that will choose the representative for San Juan festivities on May 1st. The Councillor for Fiestas of Benidorm City Council, Mariló Cebreros, explained that these gatherings will take place on April 6th and 7th, although the main public celebrations will be held on Monday, the 6th.
Thus, at noon on Monday, a children's bonfire will be erected at Plaza del Doctor Fleming, and an hour later, a mascletà (firecracker display) will be set off on Calle Otoño, next to the Benidorm City Hall. Due to the pyrotechnics, this street will be closed to traffic on Monday morning until the end of the display.
Later in the evening, starting at 8:00 p.m., the burning of the children's monument will take place, culminating the first day of the Fogueres festivities with the traditional bonfire.
Mariló Cebreros wished the Federation, the jury, and all the girls participating in this event "a very fun-filled few days of camaraderie and fellowship in our city," and that, regardless of which candidates are chosen as Bellea del Foc Infantil (Queen of the Bonfires) and her court of honour, "all of them will take away an unforgettable experience from their time in Benidorm."
