‘Festa de la Solidaritat’ organized by l’Associació de Penyes is back, which celebrates 20 editions

After the 'stop' imposed last year by the pandemic, the Association of Clubs 'Verge del Sofratge' retakes its traditional 'Festa de la Solidaritat', a day of donation of blood and marrow that "has now completed 20 editions" accorging to the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, and the president of the festive entity, Adrián Romero.
Organized by the Valencian Community Transfusion Center, the ‘XX Festa de la Solidaritat’ will take place this Friday, May 28, at Benidorm Town Hall from 09:30 to 13:30 and from 16:30 to 21:00.
The councilman of Fiestas has highlighted that "in the 19 previous editions a total of 2,779 donations have been registered, of which 435 were made by new donors." "After a first experience in the 'Festa de la Solidaritat', a very important percentage of these new donors later attend other appeals made by the Transfusion Center throughout the year, thus extending their solidarity beyond this appointment", has underlined.
Carrobles has encouraged citizens and especially members of the clubs “to join this solidarity action, showing that Benidorm is supportive; something that has been evident in previous editions of ‘Festa de la Solidaritat, a proposal that has already been exported to other towns in the province”. The councilman has been convinced that "Benidorm is going to overturn" with this blood donation, which "is always necessary, but now it is even more so after the circumstances we have experienced."
From the Transfusion Center they have thanked "the commitment and enthusiasm shown by l’Associació de Penyes; as well as "the support and exceptionality" of the City Council and the population of Benidorm, which "make it possible to obtain the necessary blood donations at this time, and which are estimated at about" 250 a day "to" meet the demand of the hospitals ”.
Likewise, from the Transfusion Center "access control continues to be maintained in order to avoid queues, hydroalcoholic gel is applied to donors and the safety distance between donors is ensured to guarantee, at all times, a safe donation" . The requirements to donate are: "an age between 18 and 65 years", "be in good health," have breakfast normally and go to the appointment well hydrated "," weigh more than 50 kilograms ", and carry ID or the driver's license. Once the donation has been made, the participants will receive solid and liquid food and, the first ones who attend will be able to take "a donor bracelet as a gift while stocks last."
For participating in this event, each donor will receive a gift as well as a ticket for a concert and for the ‘Finestrat karting’. The day will have a luxury guest to "liven up the event": the presence of ‘Legion 501 Spanish Garrison“.
