Medio Ambiente organiza este fin de semana una jornada de limpieza de los fondos marinos de Benidorm

The clean-up will take place in Rincón de Loix and at the port

Benidorm City Council’s Environment Department has organised a seabed clean-up in Benidorm Bay for the weekend of 17 and 18 October. The initiative is also being organised with the participation of the Club Náutico and Benidorm Marine, with support from the Benidorm Diving Stones Dive Centre and the Buceo por el Medio Ambiente Association.

Fifteen divers have registered to take part in the clean-up and are due to meet at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, 17 October, the divers will depart from the Club Náutico and head towards Rincón de Loix, where they will carry out their first dive. The second dive will take place at the harbour’s outer breakwater.

On Sunday, the divers will focus on the waters inside the Club Náutico and the harbour. Once the activity has concluded, the Club Náutico will offer the volunteers refreshments and a light snack from 1.30 p.m.

Councillor for the Environment and Beaches, Mónica Gómez, highlighted that these clean-up operations “are carried out regularly and help protect and preserve underwater flora and fauna in areas that are difficult to access and require specialised personnel, such as divers”.

Gómez also stressed the importance of holding these events, explaining that they “raise awareness of the need to keep the coastline clean”.
