During this period, the workers of the program have developed information and prevention tasks in different places and public centers in Benidorm.
ECOVID program ends with a positive balance in Benidorm after offering work for six months to 55 people
A total of 55 workers from the ECOVID program have developed different actions related to preventive and containment measures for the Covid-19 pandemic over six months in different municipal facilities and spaces. The Department of Employment and Local Development has managed a grant from LABORA -Servicio Valenciano de Empleo y Formación- amounting to 661,598.57 euros, aimed at hiring unemployed people in the municipality who lost their jobs due to the situation derived from COVID 19.
The ECOVID program, which began on November 20, 2020 and ended on May 19, 2021, is part of Avalem Experiència Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana, and the subsidy is financed with funds from the SEPE -State Public Employment Service -.
During the 6 months that this program has lasted, the 55 workers have performed customer service functions in different departments of Benidorm City Council such as Education, Sports, Social Welfare, Local Promotion, Commerce, among others.
It is worth highlighting the information and attention functions to the public carried out in the sports facilities of the town, such as Palau d'Esports, Guillermo Amor Sports City and Antonio López Sports Center, as well as in public educational centers of the municipality, both children's schools, schools and institutes, where the workers of ECOVID program have carried out a control at the entrances and exits of the centers, as well as support in prevention measures in classrooms and common areas.
They have also carried out information tasks to comply with preventive measures against Covid on the beaches of Benidorm during the days of Easter, as well as in the mass vaccination events at Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm, where they are being carried out since the end of March, a large part of the vaccinations in the Marina Baixa region.
All the tasks carried out by the workers of ECOVID program fall within the action objectives of the Valencian Emergency Response Agency, a body that together with LABORA supervises the actions carried out during the term of the program.
The Councilor for Employment and Local Promotion of Benidorm City Council, Mónica Gómez thanked the people participating in the program for the work carried out throughout the 6 months, at the same time she valued ECOVID program "very positively", "which it has allowed unemployed people in Benidorm to carry out work of social interest for the benefit of the entire population of our municipality ”.
