Ecoembes is carrying out a new recycling awareness initiative on Benidorm’s beaches. The non-profit organisation arrived in Benidorm today to implement the campaign at various points along Levante and Poniente beaches, taking advantage of the high number of visitors.

According to Councillor for Environment Mónica Gómez, the initiative involves "placing customised yellow containers fitted with speakers, which periodically play the well-known song ‘Summer Packaging Always Goes in the Yellow Bin’, along with a fun message reminding all beachgoers to place their packaging waste in the yellow container." The councillor stressed that the aim "is to remind everyone not to forget to dispose of their packaging in the appropriate container when leaving the beaches." In this regard, Gómez highlighted that Benidorm’s beaches are equipped with this type of container to provide users with a convenient place to dispose of their packaging waste.

The campaign also features a team of monitors who walk along the beach singing Ecoembes’ song as a way of engaging with the public. "They carry yellow backpacks where people can place the packaging they are using while on the beach," the councillor added.

Ecoembes is a Spanish non-profit organisation whose main role is to coordinate the recycling and reuse of packaging, as well as managing the waste that people dispose of in yellow and blue recycling containers.
