Benidorm City Council hosts a new edition of the Solidarity Festival throughout the day

Dozens of supporters club members collaborate with the Transfusion Center to increase blood reserves

Decenas de peñistas colaboran con el Centro de Transfusiones para elevar las reservas de sangre

Dozens of supporters' clubs and private citizens are collaborating throughout the day this Tuesday in a new edition of Festa de la Solidaritat, a solidarity activity organized by the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge to collaborate with the Transfusion Center of the Comunitat Valenciana and increase the reserves of hospital blood banks.

One of the rooms of Benidorm City Council has been the space chosen to carry out this blood collection, which takes place in two shifts: from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Tuesday. The Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, recalled that anyone who wants to collaborate with this initiative can still come within these hours to donate blood, as long as they meet the essential requirements for any donor, such as being over 18 years old, weighing more than 50 kilograms or not having any pathology that makes the possibility of carrying out this solidarity gesture incompatible.

Likewise, the councillor has emphasized the importance of donating blood and the need for health centers to be able to have this resource, remembering that Valencian hospitals need approximately 650 donations daily to produce more than 900 blood components, such as red blood cell concentrate. , plasma, and/or platelets, which are necessary for the treatment of serious diseases or pathologies. “With a single donation you can help save up to three lives, so I congratulate the Penyes Association for getting involved once again in this initiative and I encourage everyone who can participate,” the councilor concluded.
