El concierto ‘Música por la Igualdad’ centra la programación del ‘20º Encontre Comarcal de Dones’ que se celebra en Benidorm el 6 de marzo

About 65 women musicians of the Municipal Conservatory of Music 'José Pérez Barceló' and of the three bands of Benidorm, under the baton of the conductor of the Orchestra Irene Isabel García Esteban, will be responsible for interpreting the concert 'Music for Equality', act Central of the '20th Encontre Comarcal de Dones' held on March 6 linked to the commemoration of International Women's Day.

This has been announced today by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, in the presentation of ‘Encontre Comarcal de Dones’, in which the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, also participated; and the councillor of Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez. A presentation attended by the councilors of Equality and Women of the City Councils of l'Alfàs del Pi, Rocío Guijarro; Altea, Vicenta Pérez; Finestrat, María Llorca; La Nucia, Gemma Márquez; Polop, Marie France Berenguer; and La Vila Joiosa, Mª Asunción Lloret.

Toni Pérez has advanced that the repertoire that is being worked on for this concert is “fundamentally linked to women”, since it will feature among its pieces the premiere of the work ‘Fantasía Española’, by the composer Regina Artero.

As a prelude to the concert, in the same Levante Hall of Meliá Villaitana Hotel at 7:00 p.m., the director Irene Isabel García Esteban herself will give a talk under the title ‘Women in Orchestra Conducting’. García Esteban is trained in the Professional Conservatory of Music 'Ángel Barrios' in Granada and has won the First Prize of the III Direction Contest 'Friends of Music' of Dúrcal and the First Prize of the III National Contest of Direction 'Maestro Galindo' from Calasparra.

The mayor has shown his satisfaction because Benidorm hosts this year ‘Encontre Comarcal de Dones’; and has applauded this initiative that "gives visibility to all the work that is done in the field of women and equality" throughout La Marina Baixa. He also recalled that regardless of this regional act “each town is planning its activities to commemorate International Women's Day; activities that in the case of Benidorm will be announced in the coming days.

The Councilor for Equality of Benidorm has thanked her counterparts from the rest of the region to give "maximum dissemination" to the activities that have been proposed for ‘Encontre de Dones’; a gratitude "for your collaboration" that the head of Culture has extended to the "directors of the three bands of Benidorm and the Conservatory, as well as all musicians that have volunteered" to form the orchestra that will perform the concert ' Music for Equality '.
