On Tuesday, members of the clubs will live their particular duel in the Burial of the Sardine
Benidorm finalizes its carnival organized by Associació de Penyes ‘Verge del Sofratge’
As every year, Don Carnal fleeing from Doña Cuaresma will meet in Benidorm to celebrate the Carnival that, once again, is organized by Association of Penyes ‘Verge del Sofratge’ in collaboration with the Department of Fiestas. This has been announced today at a press conference the councilor of the area, Jesus Carrobles, who has attended the meeting with the media flanked by the representatives of members of the clubs, Francis Muñoz and Lola Sivera.
The Children's Carnival will take place on Saturday 22, from 10 am in the morning at Escoles street. Next, people will go to the square of SS MM los Reyes de España and will tour Ruzafa, Herrerias and Dr. Fleming. The Association will distribute among all disguised children a lunch with which they will regain strength to, then enjoy the playground and the end of the party with awards ceremony and candy trays.
After sunset, starting at 20.30, the Adult Carnival will take place. Individual or group participants will gathered inTomás Ortuño street and half an hour later, will tour Venus, Ruzafa, Herrerías, Dr. Fleming Square and, again, SS MM los Reyes de España square.
At the end of the parade, a ‘snack’ to enjoy the great Carnival party enlivened by the 40 Principals, after which the awards ceremony will take place.
The Children's Carnival will distribute prizes in the individual categories and groups. The first individual will be 100 euros, the second 75 and the third 50. Regarding the groups, there will be a first of 300, a second of 200 and a third of 100. With regard to adults, the first individual prize will be of 300 euros, the second of 200 and the third of 100. In groups, the first, 1,000 euros; second, 800; third, 600; fourth, 400; fifth, 200; and sixth, seventh and eighth, 100 euros.
Don Carnal will fall back into the hands of Doña Cuaresma, but first, on Tuesday 25, the Burial of the Sardine Bur Bujas will take place. The funeral procession will depart from Mayor square and will cover Tomás Ortuño, Escuelas, Ruzafa, Rioja, Paseo de la Carretera and Paseo de Colón where the ash will burn and reign. A fireworks castle and the end of the party at El Llondro Club on Apollo XI Street will say goodbye to Carnival until next year.
