The City Council projects the integral redevelopment of Glorieta del Carrasco
The Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, has announced today the comprehensive redevelopment of Glorieta del Carrasco, an initiative that will begin during 2019 and is expected to end before the end of 2020.
González de Zárate, along with the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, and the Vice Presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario, and municipal technicians have met with the Association of Neighbors Glorieta Carrasco, represented by its president, Francisco Javier Martínez, who has been accompanied by members of his board and thirty neighbors who have approached to propose proposals to the councilors.
The person in charge of Works has congratulated the neighbors for the high level of participation in the neighborhood. That "is very positive for Benidorm," he said. He has also thanked the work that the owners of the houses have paid for “to collect the rainwater from buildings and terraces” because that will mean that “less water will fall in the square” that has suffered filtration problems for years.
"Now," said the councilor, "it is the City Council's decision to carry out a general redevelopment project of the Glorieta Carrasco, including the arcades", which are not municipal property. That "the neighbors know and agree," said González de Zárate.
The councillor has clarified that the project will be drafted immediately, so that "it is at the end of 2019, or early 2020". Once the economic study has been completed, the parts corresponding to the City Council and the neighbors can be determined “in order to get urbanized in 2020”.
The works will involve waterproofing the Roundabout "because there are many leaks." González de Zárate recalled that there is a private underground parking. However, the works will involve the total renovation of the square with new furniture, planters, swings. “A complete one - the councilor has specified - to improve a place that was built 40 years ago.”
