The improvements in the area include a new lighting and furniture restoration
The City Council invests 60,000 euros in the reform of the children and sports areas of La Cala
Benidorm City Council has made an intervention in the Children's Park Open Air Museum, and in the adjacent sports area of Avenida de Benissa, in La Cala, with an investment of close to 60,000 euros. The initiative arises as a result of a proposal of the Municipal Citizens Group (Cs), supported by the Popular Party (PP), and Ciudadanos por Benidorm (CBM), and incorporated into the Budget of 2018.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, together with the councilors of Urban Scene and Sports, José Ramón González de Zárate and Arturo Cabrillo; the spokesman for Citizens, Rafael Gasent; the president of the Mont Benidorm Neighborhood Association, Teresa Garrido; and municipal technicians have toured the facilities where he is working the last weeks.
Perez has pointed out that it is a "reference space" for an area "of significant residential density" that, from now on "will offer greater quality and more elements" that will allow "greater moments of enjoyment for all and for all the ages". Toni Perez has emphasized that the new lighting of the playground has been made after "detecting" the Department's deficiencies that prevented enjoyment of the facilities. The mayor also stressed that the City Council has also taken into account "the requests from the Mont Benidorm residents association have arrived" on the occasion of the intervention.
The work consists of fencing the perimeter of the playground area, about 85 linear meters, which has also been covered by a rubber floor of 130 m2 and surrounded by 500 m2 of compacted water. In this section, new games have been installed, including a gorilla-shaped slide. Around the enclosure dedicated to the smallest, public lighting pipes have been built, which will now have staves and bulbs. The furniture has been restored and the deteriorated elements have been repaired, mainly the curbs.
As regards the sports area adjoining the children's area, a section of biosaludable elements has been installed, designed for use by the elderly. Its use improves well-being, physical and mental health, agility and autonomy, and also encourages the increase of social relations between users.
