The City Council installs screens on Paseo de Levante to follow the final of Benidorm Fest this Saturday

26 January 2022
BenidormFest

Benidorm City Council is going to install four giant screens on Paseo de Levante to follow the final of  Benidorm Fest, the great musical event from which the singer of the representative of Spain will be chosen for the next Eurovision contest and which is celebrated this Saturday , day 29, at Palau d'Esports l'Illa. The four screens will be placed on Alcoy avenue in the section between Bilbao and Valencia streets. Starting at 8:00 p.m., music and videos of the city will be broadcast, connecting at 10:00 p.m. with RTVE.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has pointed out that "Benidorm Fest has raised a lot of expectations not only among the so-called 'eurofans', but also among many people who in recent years had not seen the festival and who with this event have recovered the illusion for a contest that has catapulted dozens of artists to fame in the last five decades”.

Due to the limited capacity at Palau d'Esports l'Illa because of the health situation and in view of the expectation generated by Benidorm Fest, "it has been decided to put these screens to encourage the festival and reach the streets of our city and people can share that experience with other followers and do it safely”.

Toni Pérez has added that "we wanted the city to be infected with the illusion of 'Benidorm Fest' and for this reason a campaign has been launched on the screens installed in different municipal buildings and spaces, as well as in the 'technoparada' and in the new animated 'muppis', in which some of the milestones or anecdotes of the history of Benidorm Song Festival are recalled, from which some voices came out and then represented Spain in Eurovision”. "Like the case of Raphael's and that is exactly what is going to happen now at Benidorm Fest", he pointed out.

The festival starts tonight with the first of the semifinals, from which the first four finalists will be chosen and from which some details have been transferred this morning by its presenters: Alaska, Máximo Huerta and Inés Hernand. At a press conference from El Castell it was announced that in addition to the performances of Varry Brava, Azúcar Moreno, Blanca Paloma, Unique, Tanxungueiras and Chanel, as well as the winner of Eurovision 2017, the Portuguese Salvador Sobal, and Marlon group.

The gala will be broadcast live from Palau d'Esports l'Illa starting at 10:40 p.m. on RTVE channels.

Tomorrow, Thursday, it will be the turn of the second semifinal, with performances by Xeinn, Marta Sango, Javiera Mena, Rigoberta Bandini, Rayden and Sara Deop, and the broadcast of Gonzalo Hermida video clip.

This second semi-final as well as the final on Saturday, which will be attended by 8 artists, can also be followed live on RTVE.
