Benidorm electoral census for the municipal and regional elections on May 28 is close to 44,000 people, according to data provided today by the mayor, Toni Pérez. Specifically, on that election day, 43,991 people are called to vote. Of these, 42,599 are Spanish residents and 1,392 are foreign residents who have expressed their intention to vote.
In a press conference called to transfer relevant information for that next electoral appointment, Toni Pérez indicated that changes are taking place that affects three polling stations. In this regard, he indicated that "the City Council has understood that participation had to be facilitated on that day", and for this, in the face of these changes, efforts have been made to provide "maximum facilities" and ensure "accessibility and proximity".
The first of the changes is "the creation of a new section in the public school El Murtal due to the increase in population in the Poniente area", especially in the area around Xixo.
The second is the "change of location of the polling station called Coso Taurino", traditionally located in the bullring, which is currently closed. Hence, "thanks to the collaboration of the Red Cross", this polling station is moved to "the new headquarters" of the entity's Local Assembly, located on Avenida de l'Aigüera a few meters from the bullring. Toni Pérez specified that this change "is provisional" since we have to carry out remodeling works on the bullring under the EDUSI (Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development Strategy)".
Thirdly, it changes the name of the school 'Antigua Casa de Andalucía', which from these elections will have the name of 'Corral-Marvall Municipal branch', “since the City Council acquired this premises on Maravall Street to use it for public use".
The three changes will be reported by mail to people residing in the areas of influence of these polling stations.
On the other hand, the mayor has reported that until next Monday, April 17, "the period to consult the Electoral Census and present claims if an error or incident is detected is open." This procedure can be carried out "in all Municipal branches of Benidorm" from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and also in the Department of Statistics and Population in the City Hall-, which will provide this service on weekdays from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00; while Saturday and Sunday it will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Likewise, the application period for voting by mail is also open now and until May 18. People interested in voting by mail have two application options: in person, picking up the form at the Post Office; and electronically on the platform enabled by Correos, in which it is necessary to act with an electronic ID or valid digital certificate.
