Un libro recoge los recuerdos de Josefina Orts i Bosch sobre ‘El Benidorm que se fue’

The memories of Josefina Orts i Bosch, who died last August, about how Benidorm was and how people lived before the development of tourism in the 60s have been captured in a book, which was presented yesterday by her son, Vicente Ibáñez, and the mayor, Toni Pérez, within the framework of the Cultural Week of the Festes Majors Patronals.

'Benidorm, the time that left' is a compilation of the texts published by Josefina Orts i Bosch in recent years in the Official Journals of the Major Festivities, and in which she talks about uses, customs, anecdotes and unique characters and remarkable that inhabited the municipality between the late nineteenth century and mid-twenty-first.

At the presentation in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, the councilor of Historical Heritage, Ana Pellicer; the councillor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the president of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals, Antonio Vicente Fuster; and the queens 2017, Anna Galiana Pérez and Àngela Antón Pérez.

During the presentation, Vicente Ibáñez, made a tour of the historical context of the time through the members of the family of Josefina, sister of the scholar Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, and pointed out that in the articles written by his mother included in the book talks about the Benidorm sailor and the agricultural Benidorm.

The mayor, meanwhile, highlighted the character and figure of Josefina Orts i Bosch, which highlighted her generosity towards Benidorm, as, among other actions, gave land to build the school complex in which the IES is located that bears the name of her brother. "The people of Benidorm have a huge debt to Josefina," concluded Pérez.
