Minute of silence in memory of the woman victim of gender violence in Elda
The Municipal Corporation of Benidorm, with the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Equality, Paquita Ripoll, at the head, has observed a minute of silence at the gates of the City Council, in memory of the woman who, victim of the violence of gender, died yesterday in Elda, after having remained for 24 hours in critical condition (brain death), in the hospital of this town in Medio Vinalopó.
The victim is number 44 on the list of women who have lost their lives in 2017 due to sexist violence, according to data confirmed by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, the same amount as in the whole year 2016. The woman was 28 years old and was shot 5 times at point-blank range by her ex-partner, a 31-year-old man who later committed suicide and had a restraining order from her. The sad event occurred in Elda, shortly after 5:00 pm, when the victim picked up his son from school and in his presence.
