Benidorm will host an international handball tournament next week

On August 28, 29, and 30, Palau d’Esports L’Illa in Benidorm will host the 2025 International Handball Tournament, featuring the teams Servigroup Benidorm, AS Albatro (Italy), and Horneo Eón from Alicante. This event will serve to complete the Benidorm team's preseason and gauge their level of play to achieve their goal of returning to the top flight.
The tournament, which has the collaboration of Benidorm City Council's Sports Department, was presented this morning with the presence of Sports Councillor Javier Jordá, club president Jacobo Balongo, sports director Iván Nikcevic, and team captain Pablo Vainstein (Colo). It will be a triangular tournament with all matches played at 8:00 p.m.
Balongo stated that, in addition to the sporting aspect, "with this tournament, we want to give Benidorm what the city deserves, which is to boost its tourist visibility because we thrive on the sun, the beach, and tourism."
For his part, the team's captain indicated that this is an "important" competition, with which "we are looking for experience and quality matches before the start of the league." Colo announced that next season "will be very tough, but also exciting" and expressed his desire to "have a great year to leave the club where it deserves to be."
Iván Nikcevic, the club's sporting director, expressed similar sentiments, calling the upcoming season "a trial," but convinced that we will achieve our goal of promotion." To achieve this, the Benidorm team will face "two high-level teams that will be very useful for us to truly understand where we stand and what we need to work on."
Finally, the Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá, invited "everyone to come to the Palau to enjoy handball and cheer on our team." Tickets to the matches will be free for members, season ticket holders, and youth team players. For the general public, admission to each game will cost € 5, and a ticket for all three matches will cost € 10.
