Benidorm welcomes the award of the prize for the best thesis on cardiovascular diseases and research applied to sport

Benidorm acoge la entrega del premio a la mejor tesis sobre enfermedades cardiovasculares e investigación aplicada al deporte

The city hosts tomorrow, November 3, the delivery of 'Benidorm con tu corazón', promoted by the association Sponsors Science and which recognizes the best doctoral thesis in cardiovascular diseases or research applied to sport. The award ceremony will be at 18.00 in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Hall, in an event in which the mayor, Toni Perez, and the councilors of Health, Ana Pellicer, and Sports, Arturo Cabrillo.

The mayor announced that the athlete Jesús de España and Nobel candidate scientist Francis Mojica - "one of the minds and researchers of the highest level in Spain, Europe and the world" - will be responsible for delivering the award tomorrow. An award that is endowed with 5,940 euros "raised thanks to local donations", so "the City Council could not but sponsor this event, thank and accompany him."

Pérez assured that "for Benidorm it is a pride that the public delivery is made here" of this award, and a satisfaction that "the city has its name and is a participant in science and research of the highest level in Spain" focused to "improve the lives of people".

The mayor stressed that "the civil society" of Benidorm has also committed to this event, which has the collaboration of the Scout Horizon Group and the presence at the act of delivery of local athletes such as Miguel Fuster, Juanan Fernández, Ángela Llorca , Jonathan Moreno, Lucía Serralta, Mª Carmen Lloret and Miguel Bou.

In this second call for the prize, the jury after analyzing the seven candidatures presented, has unanimously concluded to award the 'Benidorm Prize with your heart' to Dr. Iván Cavero Redondo, researcher at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) for his thesis 'Glycated hemoglobin, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease'.
