Benidorm is taking action on a forest plot in Murtal to protect the area from possible fires

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Parks and Gardens, is working this week on a plot of land located on Avenida Murtal, at the intersection with Avenida Marina Baixa, to prevent the risk of a fire in the area.
The area being worked on covers approximately 10,000 square meters of wooded area, "fairly dense and adjacent to several residential buildings," according to the councillor for the department, José Ramón González de Zárate. The current state of this forest "makes it necessary to work on it to reduce any risk of a fire breaking out and potentially affecting nearby homes."
The plot features a variety of tree species, predominantly pine trees, and the area is being cleared through the pruning of trees with branches in poor condition. Thinning has been carried out at various points, as well as the removal of dry plant debris from the ground. González de Zárate indicated that another purpose of this intervention is to ensure that "users and residents of this area can enjoy a shaded area in good condition."
The councillor praised "the great work being done in parks, gardens, and green areas throughout the city so that citizens can have access to climate shelters that help them better cope with the high temperatures. This work also significantly reduces the risk of fire and the effects a fire could have on the surrounding area."
