In their memory, a minute's silence was observed at Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España, which brought together dozens of people, including the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councillor for Equality; as well as members of the corporation, citizens, and representatives of social and neighborhood organizations.
After this moment of silence, Vicenta Rodríguez, a member of the Council of Women for Equality, read a manifesto rejecting gender violence in its many expressions and calling on all governments to "continue engaging actively in the policies aimed at eradication of violence against women ". Which, she assured, "it is a challenge for men and women who firmly believe that both sexes have the same rights and struggle to achieve equal opportunities."
"This challenge calls for a collective effort in which we must go for public awareness through education in the values of equality and tolerance, and by the active and committed action against violations of the rights of women".
After this event, the neighborhood center of Els Tolls hosted another act took place organized by the association of neighbors and which also involved the mayor and the councillor of Equality. At 18.00 a march will go along the streets of the city organized by the Association of Housewives.
