Benidorm replaces safety surfacing in four children’s playgrounds to improve protection for minors
The project, with an investment of approximately €48,000, will renew the impact-absorbing safety flooring in several parks across the city
Benidorm City Council has begun work to renew the safety surfacing in four children’s playgrounds to improve protection for minors and upgrade the condition of these recreational areas. The works are being carried out in Venezuela and Goya streets, Glorieta Carrascos and Rincón de Loix Park.
The project includes the replacement of around 465 square metres of certified impact-absorbing safety flooring, which will then be covered with anti-static artificial grass. This solution provides greater protection against potential falls by children using the play areas.
Councillor for Parks and Gardens José Ramón González de Zárate highlighted the importance of the project, saying that it “involves replacing the flooring of some of the city’s oldest playgrounds, which had become severely deteriorated and had completely lost their shock-absorbing capacity.” The councillor explained that the priority is “to guarantee children’s safety and provide more comfortable and welcoming spaces where families can enjoy these parks with peace of mind.”
The works represent an investment of almost €48,000 and are expected to take around two weeks to complete, during which the existing surfacing in these children’s areas will be fully replaced. González de Zárate also announced that this intervention marks the first phase of a broader renovation plan. “These will not be the only projects. We are already planning further works to continue renewing the rest of Benidorm’s children’s playgrounds,” the councillor said.
With this initiative, the City Council continues to improve public spaces dedicated to children’s leisure, with safety standards and renovated facilities for residents and visitors to enjoy.
