Benidorm presents at Fitur the next accessible guide of thematic experiences to enjoy in the city
After achieving recognition last year as an Accessible Destination 2024, Benidorm returns to Fitur for another edition with a new inclusive resource, in this case, an accessible guide of thematic experiences to enjoy the city, which has been prepared in collaboration with Impulsa Igualdad and will soon be available online. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has presented this digital guide along with Fran Sardón, director of the Tourism area of Impulsa Igualdad, a platform with which other inclusive initiatives have been previously worked on.
The mayor has pointed out that “this guide is presented as an innovative and fundamental initiative to continue Benidorm's commitment to quality tourism in social matters, promoting equal opportunities and guaranteeing that all visitors can fully enjoy the wide range of tourist services that the destination offers.”
Toni Pérez has stressed that the proposal “seeks to offer enriching and inclusive experiences” that, in addition, “are presented grouped into different themes and interests, such as culture, leisure, active tourism, green and nautical tourism, shopping, gastronomy, festivals or very trendy products such as ‘rooftops’, in which Benidorm offers added value”.
According to him, “this guide not only represents an opportunity to improve accessibility in public and private tourist services and resources but also contributes to enriching the offer and consolidating Benidorm's position as a leading destination in inclusive tourism at a national and international level”
Impulsa Igualdad has pointed out that each experience has been designed following the platform's TUR4all methodology, which analyses and verifies the accessibility of establishments and tourist itineraries based on protocols validated by different national entities.
Both parties have highlighted that “since it is a digital guide, the update will be constant, so more establishments and experiences will be added periodically to the initial tourist resources as the audits that the platform has planned are completed.”
Previous projects and work with Impulsa Igualdad
In recent years, the collaborative work between Benidorm City Council and the Impulsa Igualdad platform has resulted in several projects, plans and actions aimed at improving the tourist accessibility of the city and, with it, the experience of visitors who have needs in this area. Thus, last year, also within the framework of Fitur, a pioneering plan was presented focused on improving the conditions of tourist transport in Benidorm; in 2023 the 'Digital Guide to Accessible Hotels' was launched.
In addition, Impulsa Igualdad has provided training courses in accessible tourism in Benidorm.
