Benidorm abre al público la Oficina de Atención al Mayor, ubicada en la extensión administrativa de Maravall

The office is part of the 'Benidorm TIC' project, which includes free digital literacy courses.

Benidorm City Council has opened its Elderly Citizens' Digital Procedures Office to the public. It is located in Maravall Municipal branch and will be operational on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Mayor Toni Pérez announced today. This service is part of the "Benidorm ICT" project, aimed at "combating the digital divide." It will provide "qualified personnel who will advise senior citizens in our municipality who require it on how to complete administrative procedures online, how to proceed with document renewals, requests for public services, among other things, using digital certificates, electronic DNI, or the Cl@ve system; and on the use of different platforms."

The Mayor explained that "the first appointments have begun today, focusing primarily on digital literacy and new technology courses that complement the Benidorm ICT project."

Toni Pérez emphasized that the Senior Care Office "was a commitment from the local government, which is now a reality, and with which we are making progress in inclusion by providing seniors, and other groups who may be vulnerable in their relationships with the digital administration, with a service and tools to develop their digital skills and enable them to function more independently."

Once this service is up and running, the next step is to offer free digital literacy courses. In this regard, he noted that the last edition of "Benidorm TIC"—which was financed with EDUSI funds—resulted in around one hundred courses and nearly 900 students; figures that "confirmed not only the suitability of the project but also the relevance of expanding it with a new ambitious edition, where, in addition to continuing this training work, a face-to-face service would be provided through the Senior Care Office."

The current "Benidorm TIC" course project lasts 45 months, divided into three 15-month periods. Each period will offer 75 courses, with specific content based on the target group: seniors, young people, children, people with disabilities, immigrants, etc. These courses will be held in various municipal locations to facilitate attendance, such as the "José Llorca Linares" and "La Torreta" social centres, "Pepita Puchades" employment centre, and the City Hall itself.
