The new road, to which the 'A pie de calle' campaign has been moved today, will give priority to pedestrians with the single platform
Benidorm opens Armada Española avenue once the works in the rainwater network and improvement of accessibility have been completed
Avenida Armada Española is open once the works carried out in recent months to improve the rainwater network and accessibility have been completed. Works that will prevent the accumulation of water in episodes of rain and that at the same time have given pedestrian priority to the road.
'A pie de calle' campaign moved to the avenue today to explain to the residents of the area the work that has been carried out during this time and the advantages of the new road. There have been the councilor for Citizenship Participation, Ana Pellicer, the one for Urban Scene and Mobility, Francis Muñoz, and the one for Street Cleaning, Luis Navarro, together with the vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora and Francisco Martínez, and numerous residents of the neighborhood .
An appointment in which the councilors thanked the residents "for the patience they have had during the time that the works have lasted, which has meant that they now have a better, friendlier avenue and with a clear preference for pedestrians" .
Francis Muñoz explained that "now there has been a functional opening of Armada Española Avenue, with limited number of vehicles, with the aim of gradually integrating the avenue into the pedestrian crossing". In this sense, he has indicated that the loading and unloading will be until 10 am and that vehicles with fords on the avenue will have access.
The implementation of a road with no sidewalks and the use of a green asphalt that differs from the red of the bike lane "is going to discourage the entry of vehicles on the avenue" specified Muñoz, for whom "it will be a area of increasing pedestrian preference”.
Regarding the hydraulic works carried out, he has highlighted that "all the buildings of the Spanish Navy are already connected to the new collector". However, he also stressed that although the road is open "there are still some small actions that will be carried out once the summer season is over to avoid causing inconvenience to users."
For her part, the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, has once again highlighted the importance of the 'A pie de calle' campaign to “transmit to the neighbors the interventions that are carried out in the neighbourhoods” and at the same time “ to collect their suggestions and demands and thus be able to attend to them”.
Pellicer also valued "the patience of the residents of Poniente, who have had to endure the inconvenience of the works carried out", and has revealed that the residents themselves have conveyed to them "their satisfaction with how the avenue has turned out after the plays".
