Benidorm offers a weekend full of music as a prelude to Holy Week

Benidorm ofrece un fin de semana repleto de música como preludio de la Semana Santa

Music lovers have before them in Benidorm a wide and varied offer for this weekend in the form of concerts by different entities and as a prelude to the dates of Holy Week.

The first event will be tonight starting at 8 p.m. in the church of San Jaime with the XII Organ Festival, which on this occasion brings Miguel Bernal (organ) and soprano Julia Ruiz. Bernal, a native of Alicante, is a senior organ professor and principal organist of the Cavaille-Coll organ of the Basilica of San Francisco el Grande in Madrid. Julia Ruiz debuted in José Tamayo's company and has been a professor of Vocal Technique at the Higher School of Dramatic Art in Madrid. She is a singing teacher at  'Teresa Berganza' Professional Conservatory in Madrid.

The program they will perform includes works by composers such as Hugo Wolf, Franz Lilszt, Gioacchino Rossini, Eduardo Torres, Eduard Toldrá and Joaquín Turina.

The rest of the concerts will take place tomorrow, Saturday. The first, Disney Musical Fantasy will be at 7 p.m. at the Cultural Center by S. M. La Nova. Directed by Francisco José Rovira Peretó, the program includes works from Disney films such as 'A Disneyland Celebration', 'Avengers: Endgame', 'Colors of the Wind', 'Pirates of the Caribbean', 'Selections from ' Charm'', 'Little Mermaid Medley', 'Remember Me, Coco' and 'Jungle book'.

At 8 pm in the church of San Jaime the Sacred Music concert will begin by the Benidorm Choir with a program composed of 'Miserere Dei' by Allegri, 'Matthäus Passion' by J. S. Bach, 'Tantum ergo' by Bruckner, 'Notre Père' by Duruflé, 'Ave María' by Strawinsky, 'Pater noster' by Sarasola and 'Missa brevis' by J. de Haan.

Finally, the Youth Band of Benidorm Musical Union will offer a concert of processional marches at 8:30 p.m. in El Buen Pastor church under the direction of Rafa Gómez Parra. Compositions such as 'La madrugá' by Abel Moreno, 'Milagro del Martes Santo' by José Fuentes, 'Gethsemaní' by Ricardo Dorado, 'Pan y Vino' by Ambrosio Baldó, 'Patio Blanco' by Miguel Sánchez, 'Renacer' by Rafa Gómez Parra, 'Camino del sepulcro' by David Rivas and 'Mi amargura' by Víctor M. Ferrer.
