The new infrastructure, included in the participatory budgets and endowed with 310,000 euros, will have children's, pet and bio-healthy areas

Benidorm increases the green areas in La Cala with a new park on Marina Alta avenue

Benidorm incrementa las zonas verdes de La Cala con un nuevo parque en la avenida Marina Alta

Benidorm City Council maintains its commitment to generating new green areas in all the city's neighborhoods, in this case in La Cala, where work is progressing to transform a 3,200 square meter plot that to date was underused into an urban park. Within the 'A pie de Calle' campaign, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilors of Citizenship Participation and Parks and Gardens, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate; the councilors of Urban Scene and Street Cleaning, Francis Muñoz and Luis Navarro; the vice president of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora; and neighbors have visited this plot to see how the work is progressing.

Toni Pérez explained that “this green infrastructure comes to meet a neighborhood demand, included in the participatory budget, making available to citizens a semi-forest space that was degraded and with little use and providing it with all the necessary services and amenities. to become a new meeting and enjoyment point in the upper part of La Cala, where two educational centers and one health center are located.”

The mayor reported that the new park on Marina Alta Avenue will have "bio-healthy areas for our seniors, an agility area for pets, and a large themed children's play space with a central zip line." In addition, it will have a garden area with Mediterranean plants and the pre-existing forest mass will be reinforced with the planting of around twenty trees.

The mayor stressed that “this type of actions are what make the neighborhood and make the city”; and he has reaffirmed “the City Council's commitment to continue providing services and green spaces to all areas of Benidorm.”

At the same time, he highlighted that "this new park on Marina Alta Avenue is an example and result of the great commitment that this City Council made eight years ago to promote effective citizen participation, articulating the first participatory budget." Since then, he has indicated, “each year we allocate more than 5% of the municipal investment budget to actions proposed and voted on by residents,” as is the case of this green area in which 310,559.33 euros will be invested.
