Benidorm expresses its rejection of the latest sexist crime committed in Girona on a 27-year-old woman
Benidorm City Council has once again shown its condemnation and rejection of gender violence with a silent concentration in the Plaza de SS MM Reyes de España on the occasion of the latest sexist murder committed in Girona on Thursday, July 27. The silent concentration has been led by the mayor, Toni Pérez, the Councilor for Equality Ángela Zaragozí, and other members of the municipal corporation.
This latest victim is a 27-year-old woman, murdered by her ex-partner, who has already been sent to prison. Her body was found in her house with signs of violence after receiving a notice that there was a dead woman inside the house.
With this case there are already 30 women murdered in Spain so far this year by their partners or ex-partners and 1,214 since 2003, the date on which the victims of gender violence began to be counted. In addition, in 2023 gender violence has already left 33 minors orphaned and 410 since 2013.
The Department of Equality recalls that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to remove it from the mobile phone call log. This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and in 52 languages.
