Benidorm expresses its rejection of the latest sexist crime committed in Barcelona, a 38-year-old woman
Benidorm City Council has shown today its rejection and condemnation of the latest sexist crime confirmed by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence with a silent rally in the Town Hall square. The murder took place on December 29
The woman was 38 years old and lived in Barcelona. The 31-year-old man was arrested a few days ago in Barcelona and had a history of mistreatment.
The rally was led by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, accompanied by the members of the municipal corporation.
With this new victim, the number of women murdered by their partners or ex-partners in Spain in 2023 rises to 56 and 1,238 since 2003, the date on which victims of violence against women began to be counted.
The Department of Equality recalls that Benidorm City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to women. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to delete it from the mobile call log.
