Benidorm exposes the keys of its DTI project at the Greencities Forum in Málaga

The project 'Benidorm, Smart Tourist Destination and Sostenile' has been one of the protagonists of a debate and exhibition table held this morning in the framework of the ninth edition of the Forum Greencities of Malaga (International Forum of Intelligence and Urban Sustainability), and In addition to the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca have participated two other cities considered examples in terms of intelligence and sustainability: the own Malaga and Santander.

Together with their counterparts in the Andalusian capital and Santander, the mayor, Toni Pérez, shelled the strategic lines and actions that Benidorm is developing to become the world's first Smart Tourism Destination (DTI).

Pérez explained that the Benidorm project, directed through the DTI Management Body, is structured around the axes of governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technology; and detailed some of the projects or objectives that have been achieved in this field such as the CF 500+ Quality Certification obtained by the Treasury Department, the Resilience project that is currently being promoted, the application of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS), the accessible beaches, the creation of the Universal Accessibility department, the Booking Books program or the start-up of a free Wi-Fi network on the beaches.

The mayor stressed that once it has been established that Benidorm is "the best solution to an inalienable right such as holidays" and also "the best example of a successful model", the time has come to take a step further and become reference of intelligent management applied to "improve the quality of life of our neighbors and visitors".

Pérez, who has attended this Greencities Forum together with the manager of Visit Benidorm Foundation, Leire Bilbao, thanked the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda for the opportunity to participate in this event, in whose organization the State Secretariat participates to the Information Society and Digital Agenda.
