Benidorm exposes its experience as a Smart Tourist Destination at the SIWI-DTI International Fair in Buenos Aires

23 November 2020
Benidorm exposa la seua experiència com a Destinació Turística Intel·ligent en la Fira Internacional SIWI-DTI de Buenos Aires...

Organized by the Argentine National Technological University, from the Buenos Aires Campus, and the Argentine Institute Cities of the Future, the SIWI-DTI Fair is being held, internationally and online, virtually.

Collaborating in it, at the request of the Spanish State Society for the management of innovation and tourism technologies SEGITTUR, the Generalitat Valenciana through Invat.tur and Benidorm City Council, the first certified DTI in the world, together with the ministries of Productive Development and Tourism and Sports of the Argentine Republic, a country that is suffering, as a result of the pandemic, a general structural and tourist crisis.

The axes of the Fair and the seminars it contemplates focus on strategies for the digital transformation of the economy, especially in the tourism sector, seeking the transformation of territories in DTI and strengthening municipalism, so the example of Benidorm is fundamental for them.

The SIWI-DTI programs a series of online meetings that began on Friday 20 and will last until Friday, November 27 and in which they are analyzing, in each of the 7 sessions, the DTI axes –governance, sustainability, technologies , accessibility and innovation- together with transport and mobility issues, as well as trends and prospects of the territories in samrt tourism.

The example of Benidorm has once again been requested, once again, in an international level to focus on the importance of standardization to carry out the process. The mayor, Toni Pérez, spoke together with the manager of the UNE standardization program, Natalia Ortiz de Zárate, and the president of the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE), Miguel Mirones, in a session moderated by the president from DEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez Marín, where the importance of the standard, its compliance and application for the success of the process has been highlighted.

In addition, Benidorm has presented its very recent Tourist Accessibility Plan, a pioneer in Spain, with its Strategic and Operational plans materialized, as explained last Thursday, in five objectives that range from improving the conditions of accessibility to the tourist offer to the management of accessibility in the tourism field to awareness and professionalization through awareness to make the need for accessibility visible. This planning includes training and educational material and the improvement of competitiveness, creating authentic universally accessible tourism products and attending to the promotion and improvement of positioning.

As explained by the president of Predif, the State Representative Platform of People with Physical Disabilities, whose technicians have carried out the radiography and modulated the plan, Benidorm is the most accessible sun and beach destination in Spain, and surely in the entire European Union, which also leads him to be the protagonist of this Ibero-American Fair.
