Benidorm constitutes the DTI Network together with the Secretary of State for Tourism and Segittur
The city is one of the 11 promoter destinations of this organ
Benidorm has become today one of the founding destinations of the Smart Tourist Destinations Network proposed by the Secretary of State for Tourism and Security. The municipality is one of the promoters of this body, which has among its purposes to facilitate the process of conversion to smart destinations through advice, search for financing and technological solutions or strategies to operate this change.
The official incorporation of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations held today in Madrid has involved the mayor, Toni Pérez, who has travelled to Madrid with the manager of Visit Benidorm, Leire Bilbao. An act to the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto; and in which the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Oliver, also took part; the president of Segittur, Enrique Martínez; as well as the mayors, councilors and presidents of the Council of the eleven other destinations chosen to integrate this Network: Arona, Avilés, Calvià, Castelldefels, León, Cádiz, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santander, Sanxenxo, Palencia and Pontevedra.
The constitution of this Network arrives several weeks after the preparatory meeting in which the promoter administrations of the same addressed the background the justification of the new model of intelligent tourist destinations, the objectives of the organ, as well as its contents and functionalities.
The mayor indicated that the Network will promote collaboration between the member destinations, seeking synergies and the exchange of good practices. It will also promote coordination and search for a framework of joint promotion, contributing to guarantee the leadership of Spain in tourism.
It will also have the support of a working group formed by reference institutions of the public sector, relevant actors of the tourism sector, the technology industry, large public service providers and experts in related matters.
The mayor indicated that "participating in the constitution of the Spanish Network of DTI has been a satisfaction, as it has been to be a part since the beginning of its Promoter Group", and has stressed that "it is one more milestone in the path of the digital transformation of the Tourist Destinations that Benidorm is drawing ". Pérez explained that "the Network was born with vocation of generosity, from the dialogue and collaboration, to make available to the set of interested destinations their own experiences, assuming in the case of Benidorm, in addition, the realization that we are at the forefront and fulfilling objectives to become the first certified Smart Tourism Destination in the world, which is our main challenge. "
