Beach users gain new parking spaces by having access to the car park located next to the CDT
Benidorm connects the upper part of La Cala with the beach through a new ramp on Marina Alta street
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Public Space, has built a ramp that joins Marina Alta and Marina Baixa streets in La Cala neighbourhood, so that both roads are connected and access is also facilitated and shortened for users to Poniente beach.
Likewise, as explained by councilor José Ramón González de Zárate, with the creation of this new ramp "beach users can use the public car park on Marina Alta street, located next to the Tourist Development Center (CDT), which previously, it could not be used by swimmers because the distance to the beach was very considerable and it was necessary to go a long way.
This means that beach users have nearly 500 parking spaces on Marina Baixa street that have access to a few meters from the sand. "Through this ramp, people can go up or down to the beach without having to travel a long distance as before," said the mayor.
González de Zárate has highlighted that "important actions" are being carried out in La Cala and, in this sense, has detailed that shortly "we will award the construction of the sidewalks in Marina Alta and Baixa streets" while the municipal technical services are conditioning the entrance to the car park and the new drinking water network.
Likewise, the councilor added, the streetlights on both roads are being moved, which will be equipped with 'LED' technology to optimize energy consumption to achieve more economic savings.
