The work has involved the renovation of water services, the expansion of sidewalks and more parking spaces
Benidorm completes this week the renovation of Esperanto street between Orts Llorca and Europa
The Department of UrbanScene has announced that the renovation work on Esperanto Street will be completed this week, specifically on the section that runs from Europa Avenue to Orts Llorca Street. The completion of the works on this street is added to others like Jaén street, already completed, and Ondulada, which is about to be completed.
"It is the end of an important action", has pointed out the Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, who has specified that "all services have been intervened, in addition to having enabled the sidewalks". This morning the milling work on the road has begun before the final asphalting. "In this way, before the beginning of July, we will have completed three important works for residents, tourists and the city, and in different areas, such as Jaén, Ondulada and Esperanto streets", added the mayor.
The action in Esperanto has consisted of changing the drinking water and sewerage infrastructures and has entailed the change and renovation of the sidewalks and the creation of battery car parks that have more than doubled the number of places.
The work has had a budget of almost 400,000 euros, financed by the Renewal Funds provided for in the contract with Hidraqua, the successful bidder for the management of the integral water cycle.
The renovation of the drinking water network has also entailed the replacement of asbestos-cement pipes with others made of ductile iron, as well as all the valves and concrete sections that had a home connection. "Fire hydrants and irrigation systems necessary for the service have also been placed," González de Zárate specified.
Similarly, action has been taken on the wastewater and rainwater network with the installation of an inner polyethene sleeve. “A specific problem had been detected in the sewage collector that runs through Esperanto, which caused some overflows during episodes of intense rain. That is why a spillway has been made at the height of Orts Llorca” the councillor has detailed.
On the occasion of the replacement of the pavement in Esperanto, it has been used to install two ducts for the implementation of future municipal services.
While the works are in progress, the section of Calle Esperanto between Orts Llorca and Europa will remain closed to traffic, only allowing access to residents, via Juan Llorca or Ibiza, depending on the development of the work. In addition, until the completion of the asphalt work, access to Esperanto from Europa Avenue will be cut off.
