Following last night’s clean-up operation, the Pelícano vessel will patrol the bay this Thursday to search for further debris washed ashore

Benidorm City Council, through its beach concessionaire, RA Benidorm, will launch an express clean-up operation on Levante Beach tonight to remove reeds washed ashore following the passage of Storm DANA Adam along the Valencian Community coastline.

As Councillor for Beaches Mónica Gómez explained, “On the afternoon of Wednesday, 21 October, we detected reeds and other plant debris reaching the shore, presumably from areas worst affected by the storms in previous days.” The material is believed to have reached Benidorm due to sea currents.

Gómez said the concessionaire would reinforce its regular cleaning service by deploying additional tractors and bringing trailers to Levante Beach to remove the reeds and plant debris overnight. In addition to the clean-up on the sand, the Pelícano vessel is scheduled to patrol the bay early on Thursday, 22 October, to search for further debris in the water and prevent it from reaching the shore.

In Benidorm, Storm DANA Adam passed without incident, bringing approximately 50 litres of rainfall per square metre over a 72-hour period.
