Social Welfare reserves 90,000 euros for associations in the socio-health and equality field, and raises the amount for those dedicated to international cooperation to 15,000 euros
Benidorm calls for grants to social and cooperation entities
Benidorm City Council has launched a new call for annual grants aimed at non-profit associations and entities that work in the socio-health and equality field; and also those intended for entities dedicated to international cooperation. The Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca, has pointed out that "through these aids, we renew our commitment to collaborate and support local entities that work daily to improve the quality of life of people and groups that require special attention, promoting integration; and also with those associations that from Benidorm carry out solidarity actions that facilitate the living conditions of the population of developing countries”.
As of 2021, "90,000 euros have been reserved for the first line of subsidies, with a maximum aid of 12,000 euros per entity"; while the amount allocated to entities in the field of cooperation "is increased for the second consecutive year to reach a global amount of 15,000 euros and a maximum aid of 3,000 euros per association".
In the case of aid in the socio-health and equality field, entities that develop programs and actions of a therapeutic or rehabilitative nature, of social intervention, that attend to functional diversity or that offer psychological treatment to victims of any type of violence or sexual abuse.
Regarding the requirements, the entities will have to: be legally constituted and registered in the Registry of Associations of Benidorm City Council at least six months before the publication of the bases; have a stable, active and open to the public headquarters with demonstrable opening hours in the municipality or serve in another locality the population registered and resident in Benidorm; and carry out activities aimed at improving the quality of life of the people affected.
The second line of subsidies, those aimed at cooperation, will go to finance the solidarity actions that local entities have been able to undertake in the last year in developing countries, paying for, for example, surgical and health material, construction and machinery that association can send to these territories. Part of the native workforce that they have used to execute projected infrastructures to improve the quality of life and opportunities in the developing areas in which they work may also be financed. These aids can also be used to pay for the displacement of minors from impoverished countries in armed conflict for temporary stays in Benidorm.
As in the previous line, the requesting entities must meet a series of requirements, among them, be legally constituted and registered in the Municipal Registry of Associations of the Benidorm City Council and in the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, and have a registered office or stable and active delegation in the city.
The person in charge of Social Welfare has specified that the period to apply for this aid opens tomorrow, September 28, for a period of 15 calendar days. The application process must be carried out on the website of the City Council (https://sede.benidorm.org), where the full bases of both calls can also be consulted.
