Benidorm begins the last phases of the infrastructure renovation and improvement of the accessibility on Beniardá Avenue

Next Monday, September 4, work will begin on the last phases of the infrastructure renewal and improvement of the accessibility on Beniardá Avenue, the previous stages of which have been carried out in recent months. Now, after the summer break, the works are resumed in the section between Alcalá and Jaime I streets, and later they will carry out those corresponding to the upper part at the level of Capitán Cortés Street.

The works will consist of the renewal of the drinking water networks and their respective home connections, the execution of new pipes for municipal services, and the improvement of the accessibility of the sidewalks and urban scene in an identical manner to the other sidewalks on which they are already has acted.

To minimize the effects of the works on neighbors and businesses, it is planned to move the bus stop and the loading and unloading area to Alcalá Street. At the same time, access to commercial premises and homes will be guaranteed at all times, except in very specific moments. The completion of the works, according to forecasts, is before the end of this year.

This morning, 'A pie de calle' campaign moved to the section that will be affected. The Councilor for Citizenship Participation, Ana Pellicer, was there, the councillor of Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate; and the councillor of Urban Scene, Francis Muñoz and the Street Cleaning, Luis Navarro. With them, in addition to the technical managers of the work, were the vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora and Francisco Martínez.

The purpose was to know the details of the work that will consist of the renewal of the drinking water network, which is currently made of fiber cement, and its replacement with an iron pipeline. Some actions will also be carried out regarding sewage, although in this aspect much progress has already been made with the installation of a 'sleeve', a common solution in these cases to repair and renew the pipes.

These tasks will be complemented by surface work, which will affect the pavement, signage, and street furniture. Thus, the model used throughout the street in the previous phases will be followed with the formation of itineraries using protractile, button, and directional pavement according to the accessibility regulations. Added to this is the placement of new street furniture and the replacement of road signage.

The Councilor for Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, pointed out in this regard “the important commitment to the constant renewal of infrastructure where it is necessary, as this government team has demonstrated in recent years.” The councillor stressed that once the work is completed, with a global budget of 780,000 euros, "this avenue, which has become the main entry and exit door to the city, will be completely renovated."

Thus, González de Zárate stressed that Beniardá Avenue “continues its transformation into a boulevard, as was our commitment.” In this sense, Francis Muñoz, councillor of Urban Scene, also stressed that the avenue presents “an important improvement in the urban scene, in the furniture, lighting, and trees, facilitating and promoting pedestrian access to the future shopping center through an avenue that will be completely renovated.”

Once the work is completed, around 3,500 square meters of sidewalks, 650 meters of drinking water pipes, and 160 meters of wastewater collectors will have been renewed.
