The contract includes accessibility and maintenance works in practically all neighborhoods to add up to 700,000 euros

Benidorm awards the contract that will create two roundabouts to improve traffic in Rincón and La Huerta

Benidorm adjudica el contrato que permitirá crear dos rotondas para mejorar el tráfico en el Rincón y la Huerta

The Local Government Board has awarded the Maintenance and Improvement of the public highway contract that includes, among many other actions, the construction of two roundabouts to improve traffic and mobility in Rincón de Loix and La Huerta. The Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, recalled that with this contract "we allocated 700,000 euros for arrangements in the streets of Benidorm, to add a total of 14 performances in all areas of the city." "Some actions - he added - that respond to the requests that the neighbors have moved us during the meetings that we hold each week in a neighborhood of the city at the hands of the Department of Citizen Participation."

These two roundabouts are going to be created “at the intersections of Doctor Severo Ochoa Avenue with Almirall Bernat d'En Sarrià and with Comunidad Valenciana –the one known as the crossing of l'Estanquet-”, two points that are currently regulated with traffic light crossings and "in which traffic will run more fluently after the roundabouts are executed." De Zárate has advanced that both the construction of both roundabouts and the rest of the actions contemplated in the contract “will begin immediately after Festes Majors Patronals” and will have to be completed “at the end of the year”.

The councillor has stressed that "although roundabouts are the most striking work, this contract will allow us to solve accessibility problems and also fix sidewalk damage in different parts of the city." Thus, for example, it will act "on all the stairs" that connect the upper part of La Cala with Tamarindos, where the general arrangement includes the installation of railings and lighting, although "it is difficult to achieve universal accessibility in this area for the important slope that exists ”.

The contract also provides for the maintenance of sidewalks and the improvement of accessibility in the streets of Rincon de Loix such as Juan Fuster Zaragoza, Zamora, Paris, Rome and the pending section of Ametlla del Mar.

With regard to the Old Town, we want to “extend the single platform and total accessibility model that already operates in the main street to the largest possible number of streets, and with this contract we will start doing so in Condestable Zaragoza, in the section between Quatre Cantons and at Plaza de La Senyoria ”.

In the downtown area, we will proceed to modify the sign of the intersection at Plaza de los Reyes de España with l'Aigüera Avenue, which will become “cobble imitation asphalt” to avoid deterioration and save on repairs.

De Zárate also highlighted “the creation of an access ramp to Levante beach at the height of Pintor Lozano street, in front of Bilbaíno hotel, which will replace the current staircase”.

The rest of the actions are: the adaptation of a sidewalk next to Torre de Morales, on Villajoyosa Avenue, to make the surroundings of this BIC more accessible; the improvement of Plaza de las Tiendas in La Cala; and access to the parking of Marina Baixa Avenue.

The councilor has advanced that "with the increase in measurement that has been obtained, over 20%, other actions will be outlined in these same neighborhoods and, if possible, also in Colonia Madrid and Els Tolls."
