The measure, which private works can also take advantage of, is adopted in the absence of celebration of the Major Patron Festivities
Benidorm authorizes the continuity of the public works during this weekend and the two local holidays
Benidorm City Council has authorized the continuity of the public works that are being carried out in the city during the dates when the celebration of the Major Patron Festivities was scheduled, as stated in a decree signed today by the Councilor for Works , José Ramón González de Zárate.
The coumcillor recalled that "the municipal ordinance limits the performance of works during the Major Patron Festivities, as occurs in summer with those actions that are not considered of general interest." However, "due to the non-performance of our Festivities because of the coronavirus crisis, we have decided to authorize the continuity of these works", in such a way that the works "may continue during the weekend and during the two local holidays: the November 9 and 10 ”.
Specifically, the decree authorizes the continuity of the accessibility works of Marconi Passage, the pedestrianization of La Garita street, the renovation of the hydraulic infrastructures and the new access to the educational complex of Salto del Agua, the improvement of the paving in school areas , the remodeling of Mediterráneo Avenue, the improvement works in the schools; as well as all the actions that the municipal service distribution companies and concessionaires are carrying out on public roads. They will also be able to follow the emergency works and for the fulfillment of municipal execution orders, and the work being carried out by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) next to the TRAM station
De Zárate explained that this measure avoids "the paralysis of these public works and the corresponding restart periods" and "we gain time so that the works are finished earlier and generate less inconvenience to the public." De Zárate has indicated that private works can also benefit from this measure.
