Benidorm asks the Provincial Council for a subsidy to expand the stormwater network in Almafrà area and avoid flooding

Benidorm pide a la Diputación una subvención para ampliar la red de aguas pluviales en la zona de l’Almafrà y evitar inundaciones

Benidorm City Council is going to request a subsidy from Alicante Provincial Council to carry out the project to expand the rainwater network in the Almafrà area and thus avoid flooding in the Camí de la Parva, according to the councillor. of Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate.

The councillor explained that "just as we have done in previous years, we participate in the aid that the Alicante Provincial Council launches each year for the construction and improvement of hydraulic supply and sanitation infrastructure, with which we have already acted in the Costera del Campo or Almirall Bernat de Sarrià avenue.” On this occasion, the project has a cost of 194,281.39 euros.

González de Zárate explained that "currently on Camí de la Parva we have a collector, but when there are episodes of intense rain it is insufficient to collect all the water that arrives from Comunitat Valenciana avenue, so it accumulates in the part "It comes down from the street, preventing the circulation of vehicles and people and affecting the plot on which the urban gardens are located." Hence, he specified, "We are going to expand the stormwater network to guarantee that this rainwater is collected along the entire route."

The solution provided by the municipal technicians involves the construction of a new well at the intersection with Comunitat Valenciana Avenue and Camí de la Parva, which will be connected to the existing collector. In addition, scuppers will be installed along the entire route.

The councillor of Water Cycle has pointed out that “this is a relatively simple action with an execution period of about two months, but it will mean a significant improvement for the residents of l'Almafrá.”
