De Zárate: "This staff is the one on the street and, therefore, knows the needs and cleaning problems of the city"
Benidorm asks the cleaning service workers to move suggestions for the new specifications
Benidorm City Council has asked the workers of the street cleaning and garbage collection service to send suggestions and contributions for the drafting of the specifications of the new contract, which is to be tendered after the summer. This request was made yesterday at a meeting of the councilor of Street Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate, with the works committee of the current contractor of the service, Building and Contracts Development (FCC).
De Zárate explained that "the workers are those who are on the street and, therefore, know the needs, problems and possible solutions for the cleaning and collection of waste, and also the aspects in which we can improve." In this first contact, "we have asked them to start preparing documentation for everything they think is beneficial for the city and the service".
The person in charge of Street Cleaning has indicated that this request to the personnel of FCC forms part of the strategy of "participation" that has begun to articulate the City Council for the writing of the new specifications contract of cleaning and collection of waste. Within this participation process, "all specialized companies in the sector" have been asked to carry out "an exploitation project" in which they collect their vision of "how to clean and collect garbage in Benidorm". Likewise, "citizen participation through the Neighborhood Council and the different neighborhood associations of the municipality will be possible".
De Zárate has anticipated that this participatory process will be developed during the summer season for "after the summer be in a position to tender without problems the new contract", so that "for next year we can have a very powerful service and a important improvement in the cleanliness of the city ".
